New York is one of the famous states in United States of America. It is famous due to its different events, famous people and even with their famous attractions. New York City encompasses the entire island of Manhattan. There are a variety of recognizable landmarks all over New York City. However, there are many other well-known attractions all through New York State. Tourists can easily splurge a month traveling New York and miss some of the famous attractions. Famous attractions in New York City include the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, the Macy*s flagship store, Penn Station and the F*A*O Schwartz flagship store. 1. Montauk. Montauk, referred to as "The End," is the southeastern most point in New York State. It is famous for its surfing and fishing, and boasts six state parks. The Montauk Point Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in New York and the fourth oldest active lighthouse in the United States. 2. The Baseball Hall of Fame. Situated in the little town of Cooperstown, the Baseball Hall of Fame is visited by over 250,000 people per year. The Hall of Fame is a museum as well as a hall that honors the greatest baseball players of all time. 3. Niagara Falls. Although the majority of Niagara Falls is in Canada, there is a part that is in New York State. The entire Niagara Falls area creates a border between Canada and the United States, directly across the top of New York. 4. Fire Island. Fire Island is the barrier island south of Long Island. It is home to Jones Beach and Davis Park, as well as Cherry Hill, the famous homosexual vacation community. 5. Belmont Race Track. The Belmont Race Track is home to one of the points of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes. Located in Floral Park, Belmont Race Track is known very well by gamblers around the world. Besides the Belmont Stakes, there are a variety of horse races at Belmont Race Track throughout the late spring, summer and early fall.
