No you Don’t have to Go to Disney to have a Great Family Vacation

b12But it helps. Actually there are any number of fantastic vacations that a family can pull off without having to resort to Disney World (I swear if I heard ‘It’s a Small, Small World’ one more time, there was going to be big death and big devastation in the small, small world).

Everyone Loves a Carnival

Many towns offer up four day carnivals, festivals, state fairs and so on. Some are based on a theme whereas others are a celebration of some sort or just because. Summer Fest is one of Milwaukee’s lengthy festivals, Wisconsin State Fair being another. The state of Texas also has a good many town oriented festivities. The hotel you stay in can be as much of a vacation as the sites you’re seeing if you take care to stay in a hotel that caters to entertainment. Indoor Water Parks at hotels are not uncommon, and hotels with a sizeable arcade, swimming pools, miniature golf courses, ping pong tables and so on are out there; you just have to look. Lakeside and seaside festivals are fun because you can usually take a swim before or after the festivities. And anything with fireworks, always and forever, will be a wonderful thing for a family to watch.

Does your Family have Skills?

A family ski trip can’t be beat; but if skiing is out of your league there’s always snorkeling, and scuba diving over shipwrecks; windsurfing or fishing trips and boating, hiking in a national park, camping, biking or taking in any of nature’s (or manmade) wonders. The Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, the helicopter rides in Hawaii and more.

Using a baby born bathtub after a day of fun is a good way to bring a day to a conclusion before bed.
